Cue the north wind
with magical powers
creating snow drifts 5 feet high
from a few inches of fallen snow
The river basin is full
and getting fuller with each snow flake
The waters are swelling
and the levees are about to break
A young girl looks at her mother
in search of hope
that may be found in the sandbags
The mother starts to cry
she's reached the end of her rope.
They both wait
and watch the river.

I'm obsessed these days with the flood coverage of the Red River. I'm about as obsessed with it as I was with the American election. It's so sad to see the scenes of people in Fargo. Here's to hoping that the river doesn't crest higher than the existing levees. Peace out.
